The Illbillys made their second annual benefit performance at Ukrop's tenth annual Monument Avenue 10K Run early on the morning of Saturday, March 28th. As usual, it was drippy-wet (though not actively precipitating), way too early to play rock & roll (though not impossible), and far too much fun for any Illbilly to have (though not...well, yes it was!). Somewhere around 32,000 people signed up to participate in this event, and some 50,000 were there to cheer 'em on. The Illbillys were just one of 30+ musical acts that performed at this far-flung event, but they operated at one of only five "party stops," which means they were at least a wee bit protected from the elements! Once again the Illbillys played in front of Westminster Presbyterian Church, which provided them with the precious gift of silent electricity!
