All were looking forward to a break in the monotony of constant touring, endless critical &  public acclaim, product endorsements, trips to rehab...only to have Illbilly-in-training Joe come up with a surprise gig at Andy's Lounge in picturesque & historical Ashland, VA the night of Friday, July 14th. The night was hot 'n' humid, the clientele was interested in country music and little else, it was past the Illbillys' collective bedtime, and Ashland has some interesting laws about drinking whilst playing...but, sweaty, patiently tolerated, sleepy & relatively sober as they were, the Illbillys played 3+ hours of their signature rock, country 'n' musical surprises with great aplomb and frivolity.
