Illbilly drummer Jack Taggart was born in Richmond and grew up in Virginia Beach, Orlando, Dallas and...Richmond. He attended Radford University, where he met one JB Jeter, who would later browbeat him into becoming a drummer.
Jack received a B.S. in the School of Arts for his efforts at Radford, a degree that he has found staggeringly useful in his post-collegial life.

Jack has been an guitarist for a great many years, spending some time on the prestegious "open mic night" circuit, but was violently forced to pick up the stix in 2001 to become the drummer for the Illbillys...fortunately it was discovered that he somehow knew how to play the drums quite well already! Lucky break!
When asked to list the bands that have most influenced him, Jack provided the webmaster with the following diatribe: All Sun Record recording artists and those they've influenced as well as the old bluesman and who they've influenced. It would be blasphemy for me to pick favorites as I enjoy all types of genres of music. However we all know who the pioneers were of the rock-n-roll era. So smoke that and tell me about your pipe dream.
Jack lives in stylish Chesterfjord, Virginia with his lovely (female) dog Framp- ton, namesake of the world-renowned annual festival of Richmond music, Framptonfest.

In addition to masterfully banging the skins for the Illbillys, Jack is currently involved with a solo project, Neon Strobe Union.

Jack's drums were lovingly crafted by Pacific Drums and Percussion, a subsidiary of Drum Workshop.

Nothing would please Jack more than if you were to email him!
