As many of us are already painfully aware, usually the Illbillys begin their shows by performing several songs without the participation of Joe Bales, their lead guitarist...Joe uses this free time to scramble around and perfect their sound by randomly pressing buttons and twisting knobs. The Capital Ale House, however, being the premium establishment that it is, provides the bands that play there with a complimentary sound dude! This leaves Joe free to sit back and relax before each show...and to play that first set with the rest of the band! Which is is doing, although you just can't see him in this shot. Really. He is. I swear.
